Sports Program

All students must participate in the school’s Physical Education Program, unless a written excuse from their physician is obtained. Students in grades 4 – 8 may be involved in the after school sports program and participate in CYO competitive play as well as privately sponsored tournament play during the school year. Boys play seasonal flag football, basketball, soccer and volleyball, while girls participate in volleyball, soccer, basketball, cheer and softball. In order to participate in any CYO sport, students must meet all academic requirements and maintain above average grades in effort and conduct. Student Accident Insurance Program covers participating students. The expense of the sports program, and the skills the students learn necessitate an additional fee to be paid by each participant at the beginning of each sport. Parents are encouraged to support our teams.

Catholic Youth Organization

SJCS is a member of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) that is made up of 5 different regions: North Region, East Region, South Region, West Region, and Central region. The 5 combined regions total to more that 150 member schools competing for a spot in the CYO playoffs in a given sport. BY the time the regular season is over at the Varsity Level, 60-64 teams make it to the CYO playoffs and compete for the CYO Championship. Currently, SJCS competes in the fiercely competitive Pacific Ten Conference, which is in the West Region. This year we joined another league to offer our students more opportunities to play, FIYA
